Is it like chicken in any way?? Just worried that it's a long flight and I won't eat the food served?

Thanks

Becareful, Boo Boo will be on your case... :D

My opinion of Guinea Fowl is that it's texture is similar to chicken but it has a mild gamey taste which can be interpreted as a much stronger chicken (if that contradiction makes sense :D ). It's a nice meat cooked fresh and properly but having it reheated and served with what they suggest on the menu doesn't sound appealing to me either.

I also like salmon at home or in a restaurant but I have had many unfortunate experiences of it coming out like a slice of rubber when served on a plane after beign reheated.

I think one last reminder to 'play nice' please is needed here.

This thread has gone way off topic, but we aren't opposed to debate or discussion, just please remember we do no allow personal insults/attacks, and there is no need to keep going over old ground.

Please continue the discussion about food only!

Is there an age limit on child meals? Seriously, I would love nothing more than fish fingers or steak and kidney pie! :D

I totally agree with izzy rose! Last years menu at least had lamb but this year why did they opt for gunea foul not many people would choose this as a meal! They could have incorporated something we would all love such as beef, chicken!?
But the inbound menu looks brilliant it's the outbound which I will struggle with!
Think I'll stock up with pringles and sweets when I leave gatwick

Anyone tried the puds yet, especially the Sally Lunn bread and butter. I'm assuming it comes hot with cold custard? Hope it's very hot as I love hot/cold combis, and hate lukewarm stuff.
Also any reports on the beetroot meal - is it overly horseradishy, (please god no)

There were a couple of TRs in the last few days where both of these were mentioned. I know that slinky mentioned the beetroot dish but I can't remember who mentioned the bread and butter pudding.

I'd suggest that you look in the TR forum and see who flew in UC and commented on the food. Like I said, one of them was slinky09

Jon :P

Thanks, Jon. I knew someone had posted that but I couldn't remember who :D

From recent experience:
- Rissotto good, but oversubscribed
- Tart nothing special at all
- Guinea Fowl a good "light" option. Tasted like turkey - mixed light and dark meat.
- Salmon really quite nice (I only had a few bites - it was for my toddler to eat).
- Sally Lunn B&B pudding was a nice, filling pudding.

Menu isn't great, but it really isn't that bad to actually eat (I am a fussy eater, but on quality rather than type of food - I eat a wide variety).

JamesH wrote:My First post on your wonderful forum!

Im travelling UC for the first time 31st August, any chance this menu will have changed by then?

Hi James,

The menus run on a cycle and change every 3 months. This menu started from the 1st June and is due to change on the 1st September. Sometimes the dates aren't 100% accurate, but I would plan on your flight having this menu as things stand.

Thanks,
Neil

After all my moaning I tried the new menu on VS85.

Risotto. Awful, stuck together, over salty over cooked. The prawn was nice and big but like rubber. If you had a few of these around you if you crashed you would walk away unscathed. I left most of it. I was offered the tart (which looked nice) but declined as I wanted to see how I got on with the main.

Guinea Fowl. Honestly? It was very nice so that shut me up :)

Lemon tart. Lovely no complaints.

I skipped afternoon tea.
