Having had a look at some of the fantastic trip reports regarding SQ's F service, I was thinking of the number of tier points you can earn. It's possible that I'll become VS Gold later in the year and was planning the renewal already [:I]

Looking at the tier point earnings table, you get 7 points for an SQ F sector greater than 2000 miles. So, would I be correct in saying that you could do LHR-SIN, SIN-MEL and back and earn 28 tier points for it? I've assumed that these are always treated as 2 sectors. If so, that's a Gold renewal nearly done....

Thanks,

David.

Yep. We have LHR-SIN-AKL-SIN-LHR booked in late October and I will be coining in 28 tier points as a result of 4 first class flight segments.

Excellent. Thanks for the info BC... it was partly your trip reports which got me so interested in SQ F. Also, looking at the redemption levels for Australia ( 220,000 miles ) it seems a no-brainer to do that compared with the 180,000 for LHR-SYD on VS.

Nitrox - what's the story with PPS sectors? There's not an awful lot of info on FT I can make sense of.

Thanks,

David.

If you earn 25 PPS sectors in a year, you qualify for SQ's PPS Club
Access to SKL in Singapore is a nice privilege to have if transiting through Singapore frequently as is access to *A Gold lounges around the world.

These are treated as 2 sectors only because SQ does not use one flight code to cover LHR-MEL. Sectors are determined by flight codes and departure dates.
For example SQ2 SIN-HKG-SFO
Even though there is a stop-over in HKG, a SIN-SFO counts as 1 sector
because one flight code takes you all the way through. If you overnight in HKG or take as separate flight from SIN-HKG and connect to the SQ2 flight for the HKG-SFO, then it will be 2 sectors.

At present, I think all SQ flights via SIN count as 2 sectors since the flight numbers normally change.SQ are fairly efficient at posted their points to VS accounts as well.
