Tomorrow afternoon (our time) a significant winter storm will pass through our area, and will probably last through the evening into Sunday morning. Because the storm is a Nor'easter there's a chance it will cause significant delays and maybe cancellations for EWR, JFK, LGA, and BOS airports. I'll monitor the system and update this thread if there are changes in the times for the storm to hit.
Trust me, Decker. If a Nor'easter hits you will not want to be driving around, in a car or anything else. Snow will begin Sat afternoon and 8-12 inches of it are expected, with 25-35mph wind gusts. Not sure where you are on LI, but Western end of the island will be affected. If you want to have some fun, ditch the car, find a nice pub and hoist a drink or two to all your VS friends.

We're expected to be hit in DC tomorrow as well with up to a foot, so expect delays at IAD too.

One might suspect that there's not alot of travellers from the UK in Boston or New York at the moment to enjoy the snow !
VS 12 had under 100 passengers on Wednesday when I returned. The flight from "The Dark Side" had an equally low load, and my boss who returned today with American from New York told a similar tale.
Who needs UC when you can have 4 seats to your self in EC with no body else for 3 rows in front !

Looks like VS precanceled six flights for snow on February 11 and 12. VS 46 on February 11 is delayed and will be operating as the VS146 which will depart JFK to LHR at 09:15H on Sunday 12 February 2005 and arrive at Heathrow at 20:55H (all times are local). Disruption to New York/Newark Services
Does not seam to affect fellow my VF travlers expect causing Deckers flight to full according to EF.

There was a similar north eastern corridor snow out in January 2005 where VS12 was cancelled and then the following day delayed for a further 6 hours. Virgin was offering a free flight to those who wanted to wait until the next day, which of course i should have done but had work to do. The flight back on a A340 300 was jam packed to say the least and has been my worst return trip on virgin.[n]

A friend visited me when I lived in Boston and he got delayed for 3 days because of the snow (Dec 2003), VS didn't fly for 1 days and then were over-booked for the rest of the week! He was happy as he got to stay at my apartment for 3 days while I had to dig my car out and go to work [:(]
The high-winds are looking worse for tomorrow, they are looking to be 30-50MPH and gusting so could make for a rough landing, and also the jetstream looks like it could cause some rough weather just after food (probably during the coffee!)
I booked a normal car and kind of wishing I'd booked an SUV now for that drive at the far end, got to go all the way down I-95 to New Haven, luckily just off 95 for my hotel.

Yes noticed 0s all through on EF but the seat maps AREN'T showing full...
Yeah, I noticed that BOS and NYC are all showing 0 in every class, yet as of last night there was definately space in PE on the seat maps. I'll be checking the weather late today and agian first thing tomorrow before leaving for LHR, hopefully wont add a delay as I have just two days in CT before I have to fly to Tucson, AZ, and I can't really afford to delay it! I guess if it really is 0 availability it will be a busy flight! (which is weird as I got a K class just a few days ago for this ticket)
Official statement has now been posted on va.com - here.
Due to severe weather conditions in the New York area due to coincide with the arrival and departure of our flights to and from JFK and Newark on 10 Feb and 11 Feb, Virgin Atlantic is unable to operate any of the following flights...

Yep, first time there too.
So far it looks like all flights are running to schedule today so I'll be setting off in a couple of hours for the drive down to LHR!
EDIT: Seems the JFK flight (VS45) has a 3 hour delay this morning. BA have already cancelled several flight to the north east, including the morning flight to BOS! I am expecting that there could well be a 2-3 hour delay on my flight to allow the storm to pass through, this would not be good with my still having to drive down to Conneticut [:(]
Blimy oh riley look at new york! here's the time's sq webcam:

Kryten - hope you get away today. Quick check on baa.co.uk shows the VS045 still on the ground (0930), BA213 to BOS cancelled (1030), another BA to New York cancelled at AA105 to New York also cancelled. Later flights not showing a delay so presume the US people will have the airports clear as soon as they can.
There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

I am currently looking out of the window at 25th street and it is still snowing very heavily.
Started last night at about 5pm and was rain initally, but turned to snow overnight. At present ca ankle high and very little traffic.
The JFK website shows most flights cancelled or delayed.
They say snow should stop in early afternoon, but they also had this storm forcast for saturday...
We are due to fly home tonight, but if this carries on we may get stuck
regards
Chris
