Yes they will as they are classed are sporting equipment

quote from the VS web site:
All items of sporting equipment such as skis (with one pair of poles and one pair of boots), rucksacks, sleeping bags, and bicycles will be considered as one piece of luggage. Excess charges will apply. We have special rates for carrying sports equipment. For more details, please contact Reservations.

If it's the same as golf clubs that is, as long as each one is under the normal baggage allowance weight (ie 23K for Y or 32k for W or J on US flights or 23K in all classes on all other non-US flights) you wont need to pay any excess. Give VS or FC a call though to double check.

Someone brought a mountain bike with them back from SFO last time I was out there and that went through without a problem.

Depends where you're going. But as far as i am aware they are treated like any other piece of luggage.

If you on the PC concept, you're only allowed to check in two items per pax in W/Y. If you've got one suitcase and two bikes, you'll be charged for one pc.

On the weight concept, the charge will be for however many kilo's you are over your baggage allowance.

If you know you are bringing a lot it may be worth ringing res to come to some sort of agreement if it's going to be a costly flight.

Make sure you take the pedals off and deflate those tyres!
