Does anyone else have the same problem as me?
Whenever I go to the Virgin Atlantic website, it always remembers my name but I always have to type my password in manually. This is the only site that seems to do this. Cookies etc are enabled so don't know what the problem could be.

It's possible to get IE to auto-complete your password for you if you bookmark THIS PAGE, rather than the generic .com

Basically, if you navigate to the site, it'll add a session code that prevents IE from remembering your password (it thinks the address is different every time). If you look, the actual URL ends up with something like this on the end:

index.jsp;jsessionid=GbMjvRlJD3zGWy6G9B...TS9mG9N!906251330

If you use the URL above, although it won't store a cookie and "remember" you, it will at least allow auto-complete of your password after typing in the first 1 or 2 characters of your username [y]

FireFox remembers it automatically if you tell it to [:I]

Maybe I'm paranoid but for any site which contains anything remotely valuable or private, I hate anything which remembers or auto-completes. It just sounds too risky to me. All I have to do is leave my machine at work untended...

The extra effort of typing in a password each time is surely not that much to bear when compared with the lack of security in the alternatives?

Chris,

Good point, although probably not of chief importance to home users. That said, both at work and at home i always lock my workstation if i leave it unattended, which requires either myself or a fellow admin to unlock it.

Thanks,
Sarah
