Good Day,

Direct from the VS site:
http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/pa ... tsinfo.jsp

"Passengers who have booked connecting flights that appear on the same ticket can be through checked with their baggage to their final destination.

Passengers who have arranged connecting flights using two or more different reservations and hold separate tickets for these flights must collect their baggage at the destination of their Virgin Atlantic flight, clear immigration and customs and re check in with the onward carrier.

Likewise passengers holding separate tickets and checking in with other carriers must collect their baggage, clear customs and then re-check in for their Virgin Atlantic flight.

Please ensure you leave enough time for all these procedures to be completed. Our check in closes 60 minutes before the scheduled departure of the flight and we are unable to make any exceptions.

Passengers on separate tickets without the correct visas or other documentation permitting them to land will not be accepted for travel until they purchase a 'through ticket' or obtain the appropriate visa and/or other documentation."

I will be traveling on 3 tickets this fall:
Ticket 1:
September 25
CGN-HAM-OSL-BOO (LH & SK)
October 4
BOO-OSL-LHR (SK)
Ticket 2:
October 4
LHR-HKG (VS) (October 5)
November 7
HKG-LHR (VS) (November 8)
November 8/9/10/11
LHR-DUS (BA)

My questions are...
First, can I check my luggage and get my boarding passes all the way to Hong Kong in Bodo, Norway?
Second, does the policy mean that VS will not through check my luggage all the way to DUS if I start my journey to Düsseldorf from Hong Kong on November 7 with a transfer in London on November 8?
Third, when does this policy come in place?

Thanks,

You cannot check you bags to Hong Kong unless you all the sectors are on the same ticket. A thru ticketed.

Thats the policy. So it is very unlikely that they will check it thru as they would have to shell out the bling bling if the LHR-DUS carrier losses your stuff.
Third, when does this policy come in place?
It is in place. Has been for some time. Makes perfect sense.

Silly question...how do I know if my ticket is a thru ticket or not. I booked my flights from DUB-HKG with ebookers, flying BD to LHR and VS to HKG. There is no stop-over, with around 5 hours waiting time in LHR. Will I be able to check in my bags at DUB to go right through to HKG? Will I get my boarding card for my VS flight in DUB, or will I have to check in again at LHR and get it there? Thanks! :)

To be certain call the agent.

Generally if the booking has ONE Agency Record Locator (though seperate ones for VS and BD) then its all booked on the same 'PNR'... ie a Thru Ticket.

If you get two booking references (Record Locators) from the Agent, as well as the references from VS and BD then it looks like two seperate bookings.
