1st stay 1,000 points for FC & 1,000 for Hilton Honnors
2nd Stay 2,000 Points for FC & 2,000 for Hilton Honnors
3rd Stay 3,000 Points for FC & 3,000 for Hilton Honnors
4th Stay 4,000 Points for FC & 4,000 for Hilton Honnors

Yes, I got one too - and wasn't quite sure what to do with it. Does it mean we're changed to gold status?

I dont think you even need to stay there to be Gold VIP, its only to get the 10,000 miles.

I got mine yesterday and read the print as thought there was some catch. Registered and I am gold until April 2007, although it says 2008 on the card....

I read it the same way, and certainly worked like that when I received the same offer last year.

I tried to register the details on line for my husband but it asks for a PIN, which we haven't got. Will just use his card for our next booking, so no real problem.

I've had problems with them too - I think it was a few months ago that there was a promo thing - it was spoken about somewhere on here. I went and tried to log in and could not get it to recognise my login and PIN - I thought my memory was playing tricks, so checked and double checked the details and I was right. Eventually, I couldn't be bothered and gave up. I suspect I won't bother with the latest card thing.

As an aside, when I initially signed up for Hilton points, the first time I used the chain, I hadned over my details and my VS card. Points went on to my V card with no probs, but I had to call a acouple of times to get them on my Hilton account. Didn't inspire confidence!

We got offered one of these in the post this week, however we already have a Gold VIP status card but the miles have never actually been that high on it as stated in the letter that came with the new one from Virgin this week.

We are not sure if we should activate the new one thinkiong prehaps the link with Virgin makes the deal different.

We stay at a Hilton if we go out to Leeds for boozy nights out
( works out about £20 cheaper than a taxi home ) so it wouldn't take us long to earn 10K.

We also have a suite booked for our civil partnership in Sept and a visit to the Dartford one in Oct.

Jilly, The offer letter from FC states the PIN on the top of page two (the reverse side).

I called today and was able to transfer the offer to my existing HHonors Gold VIP account - no problems.

How did they choose who to send the Gold Cards to?.

I pay for all of our flights and hotel stays and did not get a gold card[n].
My partner who has never paid for a flight or Hotel room received a Gold card[:?]

It seems pretty arbitrary. I was a HH blue card holder when I received a gold card on the back of my BA Exec Club membership (also blue) 12 months ago. I merged the two accounts and have used it a few times since, but not enough to renew it when it expires in April 2007. I've now received another HH gold card through the VS offer, so I've merged it with my original account again, and got a 12 month extension to the gold status validity of my original one - result!

Out of interest, the prompt of getting the new card has caused me to change a hotel booking in NY in a couple of weeks time, and I'm now staying in a Hilton family hotel there, so I guess it works for me.

One small point: I notice that the cards I received from the two airline programmes have black embossed type on a gold background, while the 'proper' card has gold on gold. I wonder if that is to allow the hotels to differentiate? Anyway, it'll be a few more miles in the account, so I'm happy. :)

Best wishes

My "proper" HH Gold has black embossed lettering but the one from FC has black printed lettering [?]

Yup - those with printed lettering seem to be the temporary (short-term) ones. All of my "proper" cards have embossing.

I too got one of these offers, though curiously the attached card had my existing Hhonors gold (via Amex Plat) number pre-printed, but with an expiry one year later than expected (04/2008). Since I've hitherto had no success in extracting an actual physical card from Hilton, this fills a gap.

An unexpected surprise is that the bonus miles and points have retrospectively been applied to my last two stays - took me a while to figure out where the extra 3,000 VS miles came from...

Barry

Barry that is good news! Where did the retrospctive bonus miles appear, I'm assuming because you say "VS miles" that they were in your FC account or were they in your HHonors account?

I spotted in my FC account 1,000 miles and 2,000 credited as 'Hilton Acquisition Offer', then cross-checked with Hilton HHonors and found '1st Stay Bonus' and '2nd Stay Bonus' credited against my last two stays. The regular miles for those stays were separately posted.

Then I remembered receiving the offer letter and all became clear... :)

I have to say that having only switched to Hilton recently I've been very impressed with their service. While Hilton Gold Cards seem to be somewhat widely available for nothing, I've already benefitted more on three stays than I ever got out of my hard-earned Marriott Gold...

Barry

How long ago were your stays that earned the back dated bonus? Only as coz I had one in May and was wondering if it might qualify.

I think you'll be out of luck for May. My first stay was in May, the other two were in July. My suspicion is they've retrospectively applied the offer to stays since the beginning of July, though obviously I can't be 100% sure of the cut-off point.
