I read about this on their website http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/passengerinformation/latestnews/index.jsp and thought it may be of interest:

Due to operational reasons, Virgin Atlantic has had to cancel the flights VS009 and VS010 between London and New York on the following dates:


Wednesday 17th January 2007
Tuesday 23rd January 2007
Passengers will be rebooked onto alternative services on the same day and apologises for any inconvenience caused. Please call the Contact Centre if originally booked on one of the above services.


In fact looking further down the page there are numerous changes taken place.

If you check the news page on the VS website you will see this thing happening quite a lot on various route, no doubt you will of read the thread about the MAN-MCO flights been cancelled. Most likely light loads and lack of a/c due to maintenance or similar (hopefully some the A346's going for the PE/Y seat re-fits).
