Does the 10% discount for FC members apply to VH FlyDrive packages?

If so, am I able to book a holiday using my FC account for my sister and her family? Or should I just get her to become a FC member, do new members (i.e will not have flown before booking with VH) still get the 10%?

Thanks

At the moment, any VS FC member gets 10% discount on things booked through VH, including Flydrives. There has been rumors that VH are checking with VS now on how long you have held you FC account/how regularly you fly with VS etc, but I have not read anywhere that VH have refused to give the discount.

I would get your sister to sign up and try first and then if there are problems you could try for her, although I am not sure how it would work if you are not named on the booking.

Last time I spoke to FVC, they where reviewing the whole 10% FC discount. Th ultimate aim was to stop it completley as it really does de-value the 10% FVC discount.

Saying that and having seen what FVC have done with the re-launch of FVC, I'd be suprized if the 10% FC discount does actually disappear now [:w]

Your sister would need to join FC first then quote her new FC number to V Hols when booking.

You wouldn't be able to book for her as the person holding the FC account would have to be the lead name on the booking.

I booked a hotel-only with Virgin Holidays today, and the 10% FC doesn't apply to that, but will apply to any package holiday.

I had a long chat with the agent about the FVC. Apparently all new members won't get the 10%, only original members who weren't 'expired' in the switchover (if you hadn't booked in a few years, you got expired, but you could re-join under the new terms). So, you get no discount if your a new member of FVC, but you get 10% if you're a Flying Club member (which obviously has a lot less rigourous sign-up requirements). Although there are no announcements about ending this discount yet, it would seem obvious that Virgin Holidays would want to remove this anomaly.

That is something that has changed fairly recently then - I booked our BOS & NYC hotels through VH, as a hotel-only and got the 10% FC discount. Its a shame because with the discount you could get some cracking prices.

Seem to get different stories from different VH staff. My FVC membership includes 10% and is advertised as such, however the first time you choose any of the other "perks" your 10% vanishes and can no longer be used.

I use my FF number for discount and always have.

Hmmmmm there's something I'd not thought about before, in that you could technically use your FC 10% + one of your FVC added perks (such as free parking, free transfers or free airport hotel) [:?]

I wonder.....

I think you can switch from the extras back to your 10% discount should you need to.

For most people I would think the 10% discount is still of more benefit, especially if you are spending in excess of £1000 as the airport hotel, parking and transfers wouldn't cost much more than £100 anyway.

If you go through quidco you get 3% cashback, on top of the 5% online discount so 8% is not too bad if you have lost out on the 10%

Unsure if the 3% will apply to hotel only booking though but it is something to consider.

From the Quidco web site:

For genuine tracked transactions completed wholly online, you can earn: 3%

I can't see any reason why you can't get 3% Quidco cashback as well as your FC/FVC 10% discount.

Mind you I booked via Quidco last year and my cashback never came though, even after sending in a ticket to Quidco.

So does that mean Quidco are not to be trusted? Is there any point using them. Does the cashback usually come through or (not wishing to be nosey) was it just 'not a qualifying flight that you took'

I was considering using Quidco next time, should I bother [:?]

I've not had any other problems with Quidco in getting cashback from any other company.

I've used Quidco for booking VS flights before, though at 1% before tax, I only earnt £4.23, but better than nothing. Had no problems with Quidco either.

Though using the affiliate links through V-flyer is a good way to earn the site money :D

Virgin Holidays stopped their affiliate programme last week. I suspect that means the Quidco, as well as V-Flyer, will be effected.

I'm keeping my eye on it, and if Virgin Holidays re-launch an affiliate scheme, I'll let you know.

They cancelled the Virgin Holidays affiliate programme with little warning, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's only a matter of time before that changes.

It does look like the V Hols Quidco cashback is on he way out, as the tracking stats for V Hols have disappeared and they where there last week.
