LHR lounge

As my flight to SFO in September is my first ever UC flight (although I have flown BA Club before) could somebody please tell.

I know that there is a separate check-in for UC (I am on a Z ticket - so no limo)and I presume that from there I go through security to the lounge. Do I need to pre-book vtouch or is it first come-first served?

Are you called from the lounge to board, or do you still need to watch the monitors? Presumably you just go to the gate and then wait to board? How far is the usual gate from the lounge?

Yes there is a seperate (carpeted) check-in area for UC at Heathrow. You will be allowed to use the fast-track security gate to get airside and then make your way up to the lounge.

Vtouch is not bookable in advance at Heathrow, only Gatwick. You can book treatments once arriving at the lounge by going to the VTouch desk at the far right.

VS will call you when the plane is ready for boarding. This is normally timed so that you arrive at the gate and everyone else has boarded so you can just stroll on. IMO its worth just waiting in the lounge until they call, as the lounge is better than the preflight service of drinks etc and if the plane is slightly delayed etc there is no waiting around.

Just to add to what Steven has said...it's fair old treck from the Clubhouse to the boarding gates - some gates are obviously closer than others. When ever I've departed on VS I've always left from gates 35 - 40 which are towards the end of the concourse. Gate 40 is in the new section right at the very end. I still dont think the travelators have been fixed yet either (they seem to be constantly boarded up - this in it self causes conjestion). I'd say it's can be up to a 15-20 minute walk.
