Hoping a guru can help me on this... the seat ratings here at V-Flyer rate these seats as poor, mentioning that you're better off on the upper deck.

I'm travelling with a toddler, so the upper deck is off limits, as is the exit row. We figured these would be the best for us because there's no one behind us for the baby to disturb or be distracted by, but now I'm wondering... do those seats recline? (I've only flown in coach before so I know there are some seats in coach that don't recline when at the back of a section.)

Thanks,
Kat

This thread might be worth looking at as it mentions you can go upstairs with children..

77ACHK on LHR 747-400 do recline as normal.

Be aware you will be right next to the Y Galley and PE service you receive on the main deck may not be as attentive as on the Upper deck.

Children of any age CAN be seated on the Upper deck!

Hi Kat and welcome,

I think the reason the PE seating on the main deck is rated poor is one of comparison with the PE seating on the upper deck. Basically the layout and the proximity to Y and the galley on the main deck coupled with less personal service (it shouldn't be but seems to be) make this section less desirable when compared to the attractiveness and attentiveness experienced on the upper deck. People have likened the upper deck to travelling in a small aircraft with very personal service, in PE I think you have two FA's including a senior so it is very pleasant.

There is nothing physically inferior with the PE seats on the main deck.

Am I right in thinking that also PE paxs on the upper deck do disembark before PE on the main deck as you can decend the stairs and filter into the UC paxs as they exit the aircraft. I might be wrong here as I've only done PE when been sat upstairs but I'm pretty sure that the PE paxs on the main deck are held back until all UC paxs have got off (along with upper desk PE paxs) [?]

OK we are probably only talking minutes sooner but hey it always helps!!!
