I was just wondering what Virgin will do will all the people that are stranded this weekend due to the Hurricane in Florida. I'm presuming that most will be holiday makers, who presumably would have booked there holidays with Virgin Holidays. Therefore most would want to travel at the next earliest date. How will Virgin get all these people to their destination, will they be able to put more flights on? or will they lease planes?

The Virgin linkhttp://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/passengerinformation/latestnews/index.jsp addresses some of this.

To summarise:

"It is our intention to carry passengers to their destination at the earliest opportunity, when the airports are re-opened, the local infrastructure is safe and our flights have resumed. However we donÕt envisage this happening before Monday 6 September. Once flights resume spaces will be limited and it may take some days before all passengers are accommodated. The following alternative options are therefore available to passengers....
Rebook at a later date...
Refund flights...
Rebook to another destination...
"

They also mention that Virgin Holiday customers already in Orlando have been moved to St. Pete's - guess they'll probably get priority on the flight back when they resume as it is costing VH to put them up.

Sounds like it is going to be a bit of a mess.

Hi Save It

We'll be working closely with VH/Reservations over the w/e to put rescue plans in place. So far we've been trying to source extra capacity for next week and making plans to get crews out to the US in order to bring any extra VS flights back. Also VH/Res will have been trying to fill up flight this week for anyone who wants to come back early. In Ops we'll probably have a quiet(ish) weekend (4 less flights to worry about!) but next week will probably be manic [:0]

Cheers
Alan
