Wasn't the rule about having to remove the battery enforced on a very hit & miss basis? I have used my laptop with the in-seat power supply without ever being asked to remove the battery (& yes, the crew did see me using it). I am sure I have read TR's on here where some people were told they had to put their battery in a sick-bag to prove it was removed.

Good news that the official line has now been made clear though.

Remember some of us CAN'T remove the Battery from their Laptop (Mac Book Air users for example)

Before now I've got away with saying my laptop didn't have a battery, and letting the Flight attendants try and find one....
