OLCI and printing

Could I do OLCI from a PC without a printer and later on that day print the boarding passes after attaching the PC to a printer. (i.e are you able to store the boarding passes for printing later or can you sign back on and re-print?)

Reason I ask is that I will be driving from EDI to MAN the day before my next VS flight and would like to check-in as close to the 24 Hour mark as possible. When I arrive at the Hotel, I will then print the boarding passes in their business centre. Possible?

You can always do OLCI to bag your seat, and then get a boarding pass at check in at the airport.

There's been a number of threads on this, and I for one have printed off the boarding pass, only to have had another one issued at the airport.

Its the same for most airlines. I've checked in online with Bmi a few times and then asked for a proper boarding pass on arrival at the airport as I have usually been with a customer and unable to print off my boarding pass but wanted to ensure i snaggged a decent seat. Seems that many people do this.

Alternatively, yes, just save the page with the boarding pass as a .PDF or .HTM page and print it off at your convienience.

With VS at LHR you can't actually collect your boarding pass from one of the self-service kiosks if you have already performed OLCI, even if you didn't print your own boarding pass. You can only collect them from the check-in and Bag-Drop desks. If you have no status and are flying in Y with hand luggage only then you have to queue up - and the queues can often be very long. So in that situation printing your own BP would be a very good idea.

On the other hand, if you haven't performed OLCI then you can easily obtain your boarding pass from the kiosk machines. If anyone else has managed to do OLCI and collected their BPs from the kiosks I'd be interested to know.

How far in advance of the flight can you use the Kiosk, 4 hours?

VS OLCI also gives you the option to have your boarding pass faxed to you.

None of the airlines now allow you to use OLCI and kiosk check-in for the same booking. It's one or the other.

Edit to add - sorry looks like you can now use both for VS anyway as I've just found this on their web site:

If you have checked in Online but were not able to print off your boarding card, you can now print this at a kiosk or have it printed for you at the Bag Drop!

ISTR there have been issues where cheap paper and cheap ink result in 'bleeding' where the bar code is no longer readable.

It not just cheap paper and ink that can cause problems. I've had problems at MAN before with BMI self-printed boarding passes and I use a HP colour laserjet!!

I had to go back and get a proper BC as security couldn't read the bar code.

I always do OLCI and then get my boarding pass at the airport at the VS check-in.

For EI I used to print off boarding passes but they make you print out two pages, one for the gate and the other to show the cabin crew when boarding. However they give you the option of getting the boarding card at the kiosk and that's what I do now. Why don't I just check in at the kiosk? Well EI is one of those airlines that charge for pre-selection of seats. However when OLCI opens the gloves are off and I can get a pretty darned good seat [:D]
