What's the hang-up with star alliance?

Not sure what you mean by a 'hang-up' with Star Alliance? I'm pretty sure there's no stated intention of Virgin getting into bed with *A, and I have to admit I'm glad of it (think how much the *A hoards would dilute the Flying Club perks - notably the Clubhouse & LHR Upper Class Wing); we'd also say goodbye to any chance of snagging reward flights. Not really a good deal for Flying Club, I'd say.

If Branson can achieve his once-mentioned goal of a global Virgin Alliance, with VS, Virgin America, Virgin Blue, V Australia, Pacific Blue, et al - that could get interesting.

Have I missed a memo? Which major hotel chains? [?]

VS have recently added Marriott as a partner, which has strengthened my brand loyalty to them.

I also agree with everything Pete has said above about any possible alliance.

Fair Point. The Diluted availability and pressure on existing facilities is something I'd not considered - note my inexperience in these matters!

Agree the 'Virgin Alliance' would be an obvious & welcomed step forward, even potentially more scope to earn via Group businesses such as Virgin Trains, Virgin media et al, would help to consolidate and expand existing users preference if an incentive to earn existed.
