Apologies, I'm sure this has come up before but new to V Flyers!

Does anyone know if it's possible (or has done it) to use the Amex upgrade to PE after booking a reward seat in Economy, and then use miles to upgrade to Upper?

I'm sure it's not, but worth asking. Would be interested to know before I make an idiot of myself trying to book it!
Thanks

Yes it is possible and yes i did it last year BUT the extra miles you need to spend are those from Y to UC NOT from PE to UC, i had the same thought when i did it.

I only upgrded one of the legs (outbound) and if you do that you don't get half a PE voucher back, they still take the whole return voucher.

Thanks.
So does that mean you basically use miles for an Upper ticket out, then economy return being upgraded to PE because of the Amex voucher?

chumba seems to have got lucky with this, as when I enquired about the same thing I was told it was not possible by FC. This was fairly recently too so unless they have changed the t&c's or a new rules have come in to place you might be told no by them.

Mine was for travel September 2008 and i booked it in the previous June. Orignally i booked 2 Y rewards using miles then applied 2 vouchers to upgrade to PE.

A few weeks later i came into enough miles to change the OB leg to UC, and kept the return in PE (was no avilibilty in UC back from MCO)

It cost me 15 each as a change fee, kept the original dates and flights, just changed the class.

Initially i was told no you can't do that, but the FC agent went away to check the manual and said apparently you can so long as there are UC reward seats available on the flight you have booked. (you can't change flights or dates)

Don't know if the rules have changed now though [?]
