I've read in a number of places of the fact that the forward part of the bubble on the LGW 747 fleet is set aside for VH passengers preassignment. Has anyone ever tried calling VH to take advantage of this and what was the outcome ?

Background is I'm flying to BGI in the summer with VH and have preassigned seats at the rear of the PE cabin via the VS website. I'd quite like to see if we could move forward but if it's going to be a massive fuss I'd rather not bother.

Thanks in advance for any pointers anyone can give.

I booked our March 09 Grenada holiday with VH in July 08. When I did seat selection at that time I was only offered seats at the REAR of the bubble each way which made me think that perhaps VH had the back rather than the front of the cabin: it seemed unlikely that the front was already full up that many months in advance.

When it came to OLCI 24 hours before the flight seats were also available at the front of the cabin. I should have switched!!

PS VH refer all prebooking seat requests to the VS website, that is what the VH paperwork says anyway.(I have just checked hence the edit)

There has been quite a bit of confusion over the whole 'VH only' seats in the front half of the bubble. From what I gather, the front half of the bubble is only available to pax who have booked through VH, period. However, on certain routes, where VH makes up the majority of the bookings, like the Caribbean routes, other seats are available for VH PE pax to choose, along with any of the other travel agents, VS direct pax. On routes like MCO, where VS sell a good % of PE themselves, the rear half is kept only for non VH pax.

Confused? So am I still, and I have spent a fair while reading lots of different sites and posts by people trying to understand it.

In answer to your question, I don't believe VH will assign you any seats at all, it is all linked to your booking ref and any seating arrangements are made through the VS manage my booking section.

I think that's what is confusing me because the whole front section is greyed out yet virtually everything in the rear section is still available, so I don't think it's due to the pattern of pre-assignment. And I am going in using a VH booking ref.

Oh well, worse things happen at sea and I'll see what happens when I do OLCI.

For what it's worth, I prefer the rear of the bubble for various reasons [:D][}:)]but to each their own.

Have a safe flight.
