Wow I was pretty bummed to find out that Virgin are beginning to charge for baggage. I fly virgin a lot from SFO to LA on business and was always enjoyed the experience plus work always tolerated me flying into LAX rather than Burbank.

The extra baggage costs are a downer though as well as it seems the prices of VX tickets are creeping up. Flights are costing me almost double what they were a couple of months ago.

The baggage charge may be the final nail in me flying VX which is a real shame...

It is just the unfortunate way that all LCC in both the UK and US have/are going. VX will see that almost all other carriers now charge for hold baggage on domestic flights, and have obviously decided it is something that they can charge, without it being too much of an issue (if everyone else does it then the pax have no other choice).

I still think VX are way ahead of most on the other US domestic carriers, so it certainly wouldn't put me off flying with them.

It's been publicised for quite a while that they were going to. Select and First passengers still get a free allowance, but yes - as Neil says, if 90% of the competition are doing it, sadly, the last 10% will likely follow...
