Any advantages in VS preffix'd Virgin Blue flights

As the NH clan head out to Oz in Nov, we are looking to take Virgin Blue's internally to inflict crass northern humour on its wierd mammals

Syd- Perth (after 2 nghts in Syd, so not a straight VS connection)
Perth- Adl
Adl- Syd (this to connect to VS201 in upper)

Questions;

Would we gain anything by tagging these Blue's to our main VS ticket, i.e. getting VS to book? - Main issue is baggage allowance, as we're flying out to OZ in Upper.

The final leg from ADl to Syd will be to connect with a upper VS flight, so assume Blue would honour our upper allowance for the longhaul to HKG?

Virgin Blue's Airpass looks very competitive, however their 20-25kg baggage allowance could wipe out any weight advantage we receive on getting to/ from Oz in Upper in the first place.

We used DJ for all our internal flights in Oz.At the time of my booking the premier team were unable to book the internal flights as they hadn't been released. When they were released by DJ the price from the premier team was much much higher than directly with DJ. As premier couldn't guarantee me the 30kg allowance (that we'd have being in UC) being honoured I booked the flights direct with DJ(figuring that the saving in cost between VS and DJ would more than cover excess baggage charges anyway).We flew up to CNS on the morning of our arrival into SYD and no comment was made re the luggage we checked in (3 cases hovering around the 30kg mark). The same applied to the next 2 flights and it was only on our last flight back to SYD (from MEL)that the check in agent (very apologetically) said she would have to charge us $20 each for excess baggage (bags were still about 30kg as family had given us gifts [:)]) . She then spotted the (by now very dogeared) paper UC luggage labels and the old hard ones that came out of the OB amenity kits a few years ago and asked if we were flying back with VS in UC . I replied that we were but that we had a week in SYD first. She asked for our VS tickets and toddled off. When she returned she smiled and said there'd be no charge for the bags [:D].
Not sure what the official policy is- premier couldn't confirm it either (both for connecting flights and other non- connecting internals). I was happy to pay excess charges because of the saving I was making by booking with DJ direct. As it turned out I payed nothing [:D].

We are looking at their Airpass as doing: SYD - Perth-Adel-SYD and deal comes in at $457AUD / 225 each total which is damn good..

Our biggest worry, as your post, is our loss of the allowance after flying in on UC tickets.

I think the UC tags will be worth hanging onto..
