Children in UC Cabin - Info please

I have flown Upper Class many times, mainly between London Gatwick and Las Vegas, but I have never flown with children in the Upper Class Cabin.

I am flying UC to Orlando from Manchester in August with my 6 year-old daughter and would appreciate any information about the childrens menu and any other hints/tips or experiences of travelling with kids in UC.

Have you ordered a childs meal for daughter?

I've ordered a childs meal, but my daughter can be a litte fussy...

Children in UC? CHILDREN IN UC?!? I've never heard such a ridiculous assertion in all my days! They should be at the back of Y, if they're lucky, or else placed in pet carriers in the hold!

I jest, of course. UC is a wonderful haven for kids, just as it is for adults. If you've ordered a child's meal for ptp jr. all well and good, although we're tending to find that our little handful - Tizer, aged 3 and three quarters - is often happier picking at things from the UC menu nowadays.

Other than that, I imagine a 6 year old will quite happily bury themselves in the IFE for a lot of the flight. I'd also advise taking a cheap portable DVD player and some fave discs as well. And a colouring book, and some of those over-priced comics with crap toys that break in two minutes stuck to the front. Anything to kill 8 hours or so, basically. Enjoy, you'll both love it.

Our son is nearly 5 and we have a 'goody' bag with various new things to occupy him during the flight including books, cards, lego (careful you don't lose the bits) and other things as well as his DS and a dvd player with some of his favourite programs and if all else fails some games on the iphone that he loves.

Its a long flight so the more stuff you have to occupy them the better...nothing worse than the 'I'm bored' [:0]

The excitment of the flight, the UC experience and the goodies mean thankfully we never get that. [y]

As someone who has never had children, let alone pay for them to travel by air[B)] I can say on behalf of 'the other passengers in the cabin' that I echo what has already been said.

I have witnessed parents making sure their charges are kept fully entertained and this leaves everyone chilled. On the other hand, I once witnessed a mother who on boarding the aircraft virtually ignored her very young child with no toys or other distractions and throughout the rest of the flight the crew worked overtime to keep the child amused whilst the mother did virtually nothing[n]

If your daughter is a bit fussy about food, I would recommend taking a few snacks for her with you that she can eat throughout the flight.

After your flight it would be helpful to know how you found the sleep suits and amenity kits, as well. Enjoy your flight!

Only thing to watch, if you leave them watching movies, there is no parental control (or none that I had thought to look for). We found him watching Team america, and he spent the rest of teh trip singing the theme tune (America, **** yeah!)

this year I have taken my newborn twice to that states, at 5 months and at 7. Overall the experience was good, however on the first two UC flights the skycot wasn't available fortunately UC wasn't full so he was given his own seat. The second time we travelled the skycot was available. There are two types and the newer version (that we used on the return) is far better than the old style bassinet type, which was a little small for a 7 month old.
