quote:For four years sun-loving Hayley Birch took full advantage of her job as an air hostess and grabbed every opportunity to top up her tan.

But her days in the sun were to take a tragic toll, culminating in her death from skin cancer last week at just 25 years of age.

Miss Birch, from Solihull in the West Midlands, worked for Virgin Atlantic for four years.

During that time she visited Las Vegas, Dubai, Australia and Hong Kong, often using her time off to sunbathe.

Myself I was lucky to have survived the big C, it always saddens me and scares me a little when I read of others that lost the fight.

Words are pretty much useless but non the less my condolences.

What a sad post. I hope she was able to fill a short life with a long list of good times. I've had skin cancer four times, and expect I'll have it again. As EGG said, it is always scary to see stories like this, but at this moment my thoughts are fully with the young lady's friends and family. RIP.

A sad story, shows that not everyone still can beat the big C. Her family and friends and colleagues have my distant love and support.

One other thought, the word tragedy is overmisued in our society. This is not a tragedy, it's a sad, unfortunate event (puts hard hat on).

Not wanting to put your hard hat to test Slinky, but I rather suspect that her passing is a tragedy for her loved ones and those who were close.

Very sad indeed, coming from Australia it is something that has been in the news for many years now. Something you get used to hearing and seeing all the time.

My thoughts are with the family.
