Hello from a new forum member

Hello to everyone.

I have been an avid reader of this site for a few months and decided to take the plunge.
My wife and I are keen travellers and would fly long haul 2 to 3 times a year and short haul 1 to 2 times per year. Following a recent RTW trip (Air NZ) we decided to check out Prem Econ and thought it well worth the money. Where possible this is how we try and travel medium and long haul.
We have never flown Virgin Atlantic before, but this will change soon as we are LHR - IAD with Virgin on 2nd December 2009. I have read many mixed reviews on Virgins PE product but will reserve any judgment untill I sample it myself. I am really looking forward to travelling with Virgin Atlantic and look forward to contributing here.

Is the ANZ RTW experience still fresh enough to contribute a brief trip report ? I'm sure there are many hereabouts who'd be interested to know about the trip generally and the ANZ experience in particular.

Pjh, My RTW trip was last December. I havent really got enough info / photos for an in depth Trip Report, but here is a general overview of the trip.

The first half of the trip LHR - SIN - KUL - SIN - SYD was with Singapore Airlines, economy. It was my first time with this carrier and I was very impressed with the crews, turnout, proffessionalism etc. The SIN - SYD leg was on the A380 which I was very impressed with. Following some time around Sidney and Canberra we moved flew up to Cairns with Vigin Blue whom I was also impressed with. From Cairns - AKL - LAX - LHR the flights were with ANZ and the Trans Pacific and Atlantic legs were done Premium Economy. AKL - LAX was a 747 - 400 and we managed to snag seats in the upstairs cabin which was very relaxed. The LAX - LHR leg a 777-200. Overall my wife and I were very impressed with all aspects of ANZ's PE. Food, IFE, Cabin Crew, Aircraft cleanliness were excellent.

In July 2009 we flew LHR - CAI with BMI and went PE. The seat was the best we had experienced so far. They use their old Business Class seats. The IFE was pretty poor and I didnt rate the food that much but I wouldnt hesitate reccommending that product to anyone or using it myself again.

As I mentioned in my initial post above, roll on 2nd December LHR - IAD. I am really looking forward to trying out the Virgin Product. I will post a more in depth trip report when I get back.

Is that an Iian, Iain or Ian ? [:w][:?]

HG aka Ian (son of Mother born on a small Orkney Island where her Father was the Laird, who swore blind that Iain was a latter day sassanak dierivation of the true Gaelic Ian [|:)])

As we all know Ian is the Anglo Saxon/German way, much used by our friends in EnGiland.

Iain is the Gaelic version which actually means John.
