VS only codeshare with SQ to SIN. You will be flying on SQ metal if you book direct to SIN using VS.

If you want to fly on VS metal, you could go via HKG. There's plenty of flights from HKG>SIN. I used UA last time I did this as they where the cheapest at only about 140 return. SQ also fly the HKG>SIN route.

The only problem is the VS200 gets into HKG at around teatime so you are starting to run out of connection opportunities the same day, so you might need to over-night at HKG (which is what I did). The earlier VS flight to HKG (if it's still operating) gives you much more connections options at HKG.

What airline is UA?

Also, Vigrin's website is really confusing me!! I can find flights for economy but no flights for business on 24 July - 7 Aug.

Also, it does not seem to do miles plus money for Singapore?

As James has said, VS only codeshare to Singapore. Given that SQ own 49% of VS, I would imagine that there are all sorts of caveats in their agreement which make sure SQ don't lose out. I can't imagine there were ever M+M fares to Singapore - redeeming Flying Club points on SQ is very difficult at the best of times and M+M is an internal VS scheme.

UA is United Airlines.

If you do decide to fly indirect, have a look at Air Asia for internal flights within Asia. They don't earn miles, but are often very cheap. We are using them for HKG - KUL and KUL to DPS (Bali).

I'm planning to travel with my family to Malaysia this summer and have worked out the best way would be to travel via HKG. I will be hopefully be travelling in UC while my family will be in PE [:w]. Since I can only bring 1 companion into the CH would I get away with brining 1 person in for a bit then going out and swapping my companion to other family member?

A follow up question regarding VS to Singapore....

Was just about to book a flight on VS website for Ms Carter to Singapore and noted that it says the fare does not qualify to earn flying club miles or tier points

Is that normal in Singapore codeshre flights??

I think this would be frowned upon. Its not fair on the staff as well as other CH users.

In addition, I think you will find that your entry is noted when you arrive as is who is your guest
