In my many years of PE and UC flying I have never used OLCI - never saw the point since there are hardly ever queues at UC check in desks.

My question - if I use OLCI on my next UC flight, do I have to wait in line at bag drop to get my boarding card etc. or can I do it at the UC check in desk which is likely to have no queue at all?

Yes you can. In fact at LHR the sign over the UC check in area reads "Upper Class Check In and Bag Drop"

The advantage of doing OLCI is that it secures any pre-requested seats as VS now say that you need to check in at least 13 hours before the flight to be sure of retaining those seats.

I always do OLCI as that signals the start of my holiday but I always go to the UC check in area regardless of airport

I've done online check in, then gone to Upper Class checkin for the bag drop - so I'd say yes ;)

Thanks for the replies.

I'll use OLCI next time then :) Don't want them giving my requested seats to someone else :)

We always do OLCI when flying UC. As HL said, it secures your seats and also allows a bit of extra time if there are any delays with us arriving at the airport.

We always use the UC desks to drop our bags.
