Hi

I am flying VS into Miami in a few weeks time.

There were reports that filling in the green Visa Waver forms would be no longer required to Miami sometime in June 2010 as it is replaced by ESTA

Has this happened yet ?

It was not required when I flew to San Francisco on June 20th. There is a list on the VS website of the flights where this is happening but the site is currently down so I can't access it and I can't remember if MIA was one of those flights

Unfortunately the VS ground staff don't seem to know about this! I bag dropped for Vegas on 18th June and was given a green form but when I said I didn;t think it was needed anymore was told in no uncertain terms that it was. I dutifully filled it in only to find out on the plane that I was correct and it wasn't needed.

A bit annoying I know but better you had completed it and then had it confirmed you didn't need it than the other way around.

I don't blame the ground staff for being confused given the phased implementation of the change and different destinations.

I passed through the land border to and from Canada as part of a side trip on my recent trip to the USA. The guy at the US side, swiped my passport and on hearing I had flown in without the waiver form, acknowledged that the ESTA had come up on his screen.

Even though we still have the customs form to fill in, life is certainly much easier with just the ESTA
