Hi there

Hoping someone out there has done this before and may be able to help?

I'm having a little pain dealing with VS to upgrade a Y miles plus money fare I have booked for SYD-HKG return. I've called their Sydney office who advised I would have to pay a $100 'reissue' fee plus the difference in fare and points.

When I look at the MPM T&Cs it states that no 'Change' fees are applicable when buying up to a higher revenue class.

So I'm wondering, is a 'change' fee the same as a 'reissue fee in this instance?

I've tried calling the UK office and was told no 'change' fee was due but was then given 3 different figures to upgrade!

Thank you!

You are right, change fee's are wavered if you are upgrading to a higher cabin using MPM or a higher revenue fare.

b) Change fees are waived for upgrade to a higher revenue fare or higher Miles Plus Money cabin.

c) The difference in fare will also be applied as well as the difference in mileage, e.g. 7,500 - 2,000 = 5,500 Flying Club miles will be debited from the Flying Club member’s account for an Economy to Premium Economy upgrade.

I would give the UK FC office another call, and hopefully you will get someone who can give you one fixed priced for the new fare you want to move up to (obviously fare prices are moving around all the time, but not often enough to give you 3 different prices)

Unfortunately there are times when the person on the end of the phone isn't quite as clued up as they should be and results in incorrect information being given out.
