Good morning everyone! I'll be on VS4 on September 14, and was booked into an N fare since I bought an under 26 ticket. Now I know that restricts me a ton, but do you think VS will still let me buy an upgrade to either PE or UC using money? (I know I can't use miles on an N) Checking online, there is no option to upgrade, so I assume if I can, the only way is to do it at the airport. I will be having surgery a few days before my flight, so I'm really hoping VS will let me upgrade and I can be a bit more comfortable. Any suggestions on getting them to let me do that?

Also, I should be earning 50% of miles flown, but according to my booking, I will earn 75%, and I don't have Ag or AU. Seem a big odd?

Thanks for the help.

Mike

I'd keep looking on-line in 'manage your booking' to see what comes up and if nothing then still ask at the airport (think going to the ticket desk rather than the check in desk would be better)

What surgery are you having? I hope its very minor and your Dr says its ok to fly that soon after the op. Airlines have rules (let aline the medics) abotu people flying soon after ops.

I've been checking since I made the booking. I'll be fine to fly, according to my doctor, but won't be too comfortable after it in economy.

It's still a case of keep looking between now and then and at OLCI stage too.

VS may still release some upgrades but there is no guarentee but there is still no harm in asking at the airport.

Good luck with the op.

PE looks quite full, which doesn't bode too well for an special on the day upgrade offer/price which they often do.

There will be no question that they will allow you to upgrade with money, it will just depend on what the cost is. You could even call now and see, but of course there will be a change fee and then the fare difference, which could work out quite expensive.

Did you by any chance buy this from a third party specialist agent rather than from VS direct?
As I understand it, if you did then VS won't be able to offer you a cash upgrade until the airport on the day of departure.
If you want to get a new ticket in a higher class you would have to talk to the people you booked the ticket with and pay the fare difference to them plus any change fees.
The Student/Youth tickets are great value though, and very flexible.

Please contact Special Assistance before you fly if you are having surgery a few days before flying. Very often they will be more aware of complications from air travel than your own doctor.
