A couple of things I've noticed about the Virgin Atlantic shopping portal recently:

1. They've dumped several retailers who are known online to have absolutely shoddy service. Good riddance and thank goodness Virgin Atlantic listens to their customers in that regard.

2. When Virgin Atlantic originally opened their shopping portal, they included eBay as a place where you could earn miles on your purchases. Back then, when you logged into eBay via the portal, you would earn miles on every purchase (auction or Buy It Now) while that cookie was valid. This is no longer the case and probably hasn't been for a while.

I strongly suggest to those who do use eBay to get miles, to log out after their auction is complete, close the eBay window, then log into eBay again via the portal. Do this for every purchase to ensure that you do get your miles for every auction/purchase you've made.

Virgin Atlantic's portal partner warns (in the special conditions) that they will not entertain any queries regarding unrewarded mileage, so make sure you do log out of eBay and back in again through the portal. At least you will likely see the click-through show up in your purchases list in the shopping site sooner.

The only reason I bring this up is because I've lost miles on three purchases because I didn't log out and back in again, but rather did all three payments in the same session. As much as this is eBay's fault, Virgin Atlantic did at least credit me (as a courtesy) the largest purchase, but said that this was a courtesy only.

Anyway... who else has used the partners on the shopping portal? I find that there are several I will happily go back to (Play.com being my favourite).
