Gatwick twilight checkin and OLCI

I phoned Virgin Atlantic tonight to ask if it is possible to do online checkin as soon as it opens (to secure our seats/get better seats) and then later in the day to do twilight checkin.
I was told that you can only do one or the other.

However I have done a search on here to find that some people have done both. So has anyone done both forms of check in recently without problem?

You can do OLCI and then twilight check-in. There is nothing in the rule book that says you can do one or the other. Many of us do OLCI to secure our seats or else to feel that the holiday has already begun and then check in at the aiport

Our flight's on Sunday morning and that is my plan for tomorrow. I was going to do online check in in the morning then when we get to the airport in the afternoon go to twilight check in and get our boarding passes (can't print them here), drop off our bags and see if there's any extra legroom seats!
