Hi I am looking at booking some flights tonight but I want to know the availabilty left in PE before I commit to booking, can't phone VA as I don't want my husband to know I'm booking PE.

I want to fly from LHR to SF on sunday 28th Aug 11 in PE but I only want to fly PE if there are some of the pairs of 2 seats left, I don't want to sit in the middle in the 4's.

Would some kind soul who has access to this please mind having a look for me before I book online this evening

Many Many Thanks

Sam

Sam

I have just has a look on expertflyer - the flight is showing wide open - J9 D9 R9 Z9 W9 S9 K9 Y9 B9 L9 M9 Q9 X0 N0 O0

Their seat plan shows every single seat in PE, that is pre-bookable still available for selection. Rows 31 through 36 inclusive - the A & C and H & K pairs are showing available.

Hope this helps

Nick

I remember doing the same thing back in 2006, with a lot of help from the site (it was my first post), but I was too excited and broke them news only a few days after booking. I actually got told off for 'wasting money', although now, and again with a lot of help from this site, we both do everything possible to ensure we fly UC as much as poss, he was an easy convert to the premium cabins :)

Hope you get it all booked and enjoy your first PE flights, you'll never want to go back again ):

Yippee! I've booked it ~ our first flight in PE. Could only manage PE on the way out, coming back Economy but its a start.

I am now so excited, I daren't tell him tho until the day as I know I will get told off for the extra spends!!!

So now that we are flying out to SFO in PE I need to know all there is to know, and believe me I will get excited by the slightest little thing :|

So do we get to check in at a different desk, do we get on the plane before Economy ~ I never pay attention as it has never applied to me, what do I get on board that is different? And what are the seats like, are they new ones?

I know alot of people will find this quite sad as I guess its the norm to alot of people to fly PE or UC but its a big thing for me :D

I have selected seats 31H and 31K ~ hope these are ok

Thanks again
Sam

Hi Sam!

Well done for your first PE flight.

Yes you do check-in at a different desk. It will be clearly marked at LHR and is near the UC desk. Look for the purple lights and it is to the left of there.

You should also get priority boarding and will be invited to board first but the reality is that things can get very crowded on the jetway, especially if the gate crew do not enforce the rules. You will also disembark immediately after UC and the crew will hold back economy passengers until you have left.

You will have the new leather seats and will also have a different menu from economy.

Enjoy!

Thanks Honey Lamb, We have booked 31H 31K but I'm thinking I might be better with 31A 31C as these are on the side where you get on and off ~ is there any advantage/disadvantage or which other seats should we go for?

Sorry, I can't answer that but someone else will come along and advise you

Seats choices are very personal things and all have advantages and disadvantages depending on the issue.

Have a look at the seat ratings in 'the tool box' and on sites such as seatguru and seatexpert.

Personally I would want to be on the HK side as there is no under seat entertainment box on that side so no restricted foot room and further back away from the galley - which is handy for getting 1st meal preference but also noisier and you will have pax walking past for extra drinks etc.

Also read some of the trip reports as well for PE in the SFO route for a better insiteas to service etc.

i cant give specific advice but i don't think there will be that much of a difference between the left and right sides.
if i remember correctly when i was flying back from Paris on an AF A380 back in the summer the que on the right seemed to move a bit quicker it all depends on how many people between you and the door are disorganized with their hand luggage or family members

Rather than thinking in terms of left versus right sides (of the plane, that is), which as most folks have said are basically the same, you might want to try and get to the airport early and try to bag the PE exit seats portside. They have a TON of extra legroom, as they are the ones at the main entry/exit door, though as Chris says it will be noisier there because of the galley. I usually don't mind this during the day flights, and always really liked these seats. If you need a ton of storage area, lack of proper storage under the seat in front can be an issue. I never do, the seat is plenty wide enough to keep a few items on it even as you sit there. The seats are only available for selection at the airport, and tend to be assigned very quickly as check-in opens, so if you don't fancy getting to the airport at 7am for an 11am flight, it might not be worth your while.

The single biggest downside of being in these seats is that you're so close to the UC bar you'll spend most of the flight trying to figure out how to move up one class next time :)
