My in-laws are due to travel with us to BGI next month (separate bookings) but my mother-in-laws 91 year old fathers health is deteriorating very rapidly. I remember seeing in the fare rules that VS would all change/cancellation in event of death/serious illness of a close family member but don't have the full wording.

Anyone have a copy?

From here
3.1.3 Some Tickets are sold at discounted fares which may be partially or completely non-refundable. You should choose the fare best suited to your needs. You may also wish to ensure that you have appropriate insurance to cover instances where you have to cancel your Ticket.

3.1.4 If you have a Ticket of the type described in Article 3.1.3 above which is completely unused solely because you are prevented from travelling due to Force Majeure, we will provide you with a credit for the non-refundable amount of the fare for future travel on us, subject to deduction of a reasonable administration fee and provided that you promptly advise and furnish us with evidence of such Force Majeure. Such credit can be used toward purchase of a Ticket for another person.

And here:
"Force Majeure" means unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond your control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised. Circumstances that are within your control and are foreseeable include, but are not limited to, not possessing valid travel documents for any country you may seek to enter as a point of destination or transit; a pre-existing medical condition of you or anyone travelling with you or a close family member or partner of which you were aware or should have been aware with the exercise of due diligence at the time of issue of your ticket; failure to arrange reliable transportation or to leave adequate time to complete your journey to an airport in order to arrive at least 120 minutes (or such longer period as may be specified at time of issue of your ticket) prior to the scheduled departure time of your flight; failure to leave adequate time between the scheduled time of arrival of a connecting flight and the scheduled departure time of your flight; booking a ticket knowing that you will be unable to be carried on one or more flight segments because of application of these Conditions of Carriage (such as Article 7); a pre-existing commitment relating to your employment or business or personal life of which you were aware, or should have been with the exercise of due diligence at the time of issue of your Ticket.

It may depend upon whether VS will interpret Grandfather as a "close family member" and/or "travelling with you" - best to ring them and ask.
Hope you don't need it.

I strongly advise to discuss with your travel insurance provider, so you know where you stand in the circumstances.

Thanks

I've just gone in to Expedia and made a dummy booking in Z Class. This is what the rules say:-

CANCELLATION

ANY TIME

TICKET IS NON-REFUNDABLE.

WAIVED FOR ILLNESS OR DEATH OF PASSENGER OR FAMILY MEMBER.

My MiL is erring on the side of caution and thinking about cancelling. She is convinced that if she doesn't something will happen while she is away and she'll have to curtail the holiday and effectively lose the whole lot.

This would be their first ever trip to the Caribbean and first ever premium class trip.
