Hi

I usually travel Virgin for all my long haul flights from Heathrow. However I am planning a trip to Vegas next year and I am concerned about the standard of fleet running out of LGW. Based on reviews I have read online and from friends comments, the experience onboard is nowhere near as good as the flights out of LHR.

I have read that the LGW fleet is being upgraded to the same standard as LHR, but does anyone know when this is due to be completed by? I would prefer to stick with Virgin for this trip, but given the length of flight, I want it to be as stress free as possible!

Thank you,
Jackie

For my flights to Vegas I usually take Virgin LHR to San Fran and then a short hop to Vegas on Virgin America, which now you can earn miles and tier points.

The LGW fleet is being upgraded from next year, and new a/c are joining the fleet to operate out of there, although I doubt either will have an effect on your flight dates. Not sure what cabin you are flying, but in econ you really wouldn't notice much difference to the LHR fleet, apart from the IFE which wouldn't be on demand.

As already suggested, the other option is to fly in to SFO and connect down with an internal flight to LAS, or fly in to LAX and do the same, or even drive. We drove last year and it was a easy if a little boring 3 and half hour drive.

Though I believe the refits are going to be started towards the end of next year so don't expect much different for most of next year.
