I am going to assume this is a bug in the system but our friends have just returned from a trip to Dubai in Upper; one flew out Z, the other on a M+M fare.

They hadn't tagged their Flying Club numbers so they did missing miles and by mistake did it for both.

Miles and tier points were credited for the M+M flight.

Have Virgin changed their policy or is this just a bug?

We did M&M in September to LV and was told we would not get tier points but low and behold we got both miles and tier points on return ?| Rang them to point it out (very honest person) and was told 'don't worry about it, just accept' so we did :)

T&C's are still pretty clear

"g) No Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles and tier points will be earned on Miles Plus Money fares."

I've always assumed that the M&M programme was one way VS attempted to reduce the commitment implied by the mileage scheme; it would seem a bit odd to have the programme finish up increasing that commitment.

How did you find the M&M UC flight?

I just tried this on a M+M flight I took back in July. The outbound leg was outside the six month limit so didn't qualify. The return leg is just inside the six month limit, but the FC website says "we are unable to process my request." So I'm guessing that calling FC would make no difference.

Unlikely, as stated above, M+M tickets do not qualify to earn miles or TP's, it just seems for some reasons the automatic system isn't processing them correctly and some people are being lucky. Calling FC will just result in the looking at your booking, seeing it was an M+M fare and telling you that you aren't supposed to earn them.
