Miles & Tier Points when upgrading?

My wife and I are flying LHR to SYD via HKG. LHR-HKG in PE (K) & HKG-SYD UC (G). If we are able to upgrade the LHR-HKG sectors to UC at the airport (I know I'll have to upgrade the revenue ticket also) will we still receive miles & tier points?

I seem to remember doing this from NRT-LHR a couple of years ago and didn't receive either.

Thanks for your help. Oh, and if anyone can give me a load check for VS200 on 28th Dec & VS201 on 28th Jan I'd really appreciate it.

As you already mentioned you currently have a K fare which is not upgradeable using miles, once you upgrade this with cash to a PE S fare you can then upgrade to a G using miles if there's availability.

If you do this, you will still earn miles/TP's for the S fare, although you will have to get them added manually as the VS system wont automatically award miles/TP's when you upgrade with miles.
