Hi all,

Went online to check my seat allocations for the above routing on 7/14 July of 2011 and was surprised to be presented with a 747 config 1 seat map - I therefore bagged PE seats in the "bubble".

When doing the same route this year, the plane was a different config, with the newer style PE on the lower deck.

I'm not sure whether this is a quirk of the scheduling around that time, and of course anything can change between now and then, but it might tell us something about the config allocation to certain routes in 2011.

Knowing that many on here, like myself, like the PE in the bubble config, and perhaps even the older PE seats etc, I thought I'd post it here for discussion/comment.

Now edited subject with route as intended - I'm in too much of a hurry these days!

Not really a change from this year as BGI has been operating on both 14J and 44J configs all year long - it really does all depend on the day. Keep an eye on your booking though as it could change (and change back!)

Oh, ok - thanks Tinkerbelle.

I had it in mind that VS essentially had "default" configs for each route and dealt with exceptions due to scheduling/re-routing issues as and when they occurred. On that basis, I'd have expected to see the "default" config on this route and believed that to be the other I described, hence my surprise.

Self evidently, I'm not as "up to speed" with all this is many on here, so I live and learn!

Is my assumption on "default" anywhere close to reality?

Well BGI is operated more on the 44J config as J can easily be filled on this route. But I have been on several BGI flights this year myself that have been on the 14J config.

In the main, yes, most routes have a usual config or a/c type, but as Tinks has already said, BGI just happens to be probably one of the routes that does change between both the LGW and LHR 747's on a regular and unpredictable basis.
