Trip reports and menu to follow but I did notice this on my recent flights...

Outbound G-VGOA (No Sky maps working) Reason given by FSM " The service is not switched on anymore. It should be automatic"

Inbound G-VGAS (No Sky maps working)Reason given by FSM " The tapes have not been loaded?? What tapes? HAs my illusion been spoilt! We did ask a CSS as well and they said the maps are often off these days."

All very odd. Anybody else come across this recently?

On my flight from LHR to JFK (VS045) on the 13th of last month, the map worked but only the interactive part. You could not see where the plane was and get any of the speed data, etc unless you switched from the moving map to the interactive one. Thought it was all very weird.

It sounds to be a bit hit and miss, on both my NYC flights last month (VS009/018) it was working fine, even down to the detailed inner London map when coming into LHR.

I know they suspended it temporarily last year, as did a lot of other airlines after recent terrorist plots were made public, but I understood that was just a temporary measure.

Still wasn't working on G-VGAS (A346) the other day either. It sounds like it might have been disabled for some reason? A software update gone wrong perhaps?

I don't think V:Port uses any tapes and I believe the i-map data comes from the live A/C navigation systems.
