Hello all,

Am new to these forums and wondered if anyone could help on the following. I am flying out on the 23rd April 2011 on the VS027 from LGW-MCO. Looking through the list of aircraft that operate this route, it seems most are the 443 variants of the 747. Firstly are these aircraft likely to have the IFE updated before this date? Secondly I heard that the new A330's may operate this route, but when are they due to enter service?

Hope someone is able to assist.

Thanks

Gav

Hi and welcome.

Your flight will still be on a 747, as the first A330 to operate from LGW doesn't start until May.

The LGW 747's are not due to start their refit until later this year, so it will be either Odyseey or Nova IFE for your flight.

Have a great flight and trip, I will be in Orlando at the same time as you, hope it isn't too busy!

Thanks,
Neil

Hi Neil,

Many thanks for the quick answer it's apprciated. Guess I need to hope it's VAST,VTOP or VXLG as we have a 7 year old who is looking forward to the on-board games which I see the Nova system doesn't have! We are doing all the parks so am sure it will be manic. Have a great time too.

You are correct, Nova doesn't have the games, but I suggest you be prepared not to have them as there are more a/c operating that route without them than with and they do interchange the a/c, so there really is no way of knowing which IFE you will get until the day.

Thanks again. Will keep our fingers crossed. Also it will be our Honeymoon too, what are the chances of an upgrade on the day with a 7 year old?

Firstly, congrats.

Regarding the upgrade, for free, the chance will be almost certainly zero, mainly because it is the Easter period and the flights will be jammed. If by any chance the loads aren't quite full in say PE, then you might be able to pay a reduced rate on the day, which are currently around the £225 per person one way. Free upgrades are hardly ever given out and if they are, then it will be the top tier frequent fliers at the top of the list.
