So after months and months of speculation Wednesday is the day that Virgin Blue finally becomes Virgin Australia and the fragmented "Virgin Blue Group Airlines" finally become, what is expected to be two brands, Virgin Australia and V Australia.

The first picture of the new livery can be seen here:

The new corporate identity is quite clearly based on the new VS identity- note the same font type of the name Virgin Australia and also the huge similarities between the new Virgin Australia and VS uniforms. One cannot help to wonder if this all hints at much, much closer co-operation between Virgin branded airlines.

This is quite possibly the largest Virgin Group Airline announcement for a long while.

SRB will be conducting a press conference whilst us UK based members are asleep, although expect to hear some exciting announcements including the possibility of VA launching SYD-PVG which will offer VS passengers another route down under.

Their website has relaunched with the new logo and info on the rebranding.

And this will probably have people on here spitting in jealousy, but it seems that Virgin Australia are introducing Amenity Kits for Business Class pax on flights over 3h in duration ;)

I like the streamlined look of it, but agree it needs more colour.

I like the livery, very clean looking.

And yes, if Virgin airlines would just become one that'd be great. Now if they can fix all the protectionist laws around the world to make that happen, world peace will be an easy act to follow!

If we could have a Virgin worldwide airline alliance, could that rival the Star/Skyteam/One World alliances and be the 4th worldwide alliance?

Perhaps is the answer I'd say, especially if Virgin America continues to develop its US network. The only (admittedly large) gap in the network is European short haul.

Thanks Bazz, good video!
I wish they had the flags of each base country on the wingtips, would be great to see that kind of continuity across the fleet.

I did rather like the red fuselage as it made DJ a bit more distinctive amoungst the general homogonised liveries that most airlies have these days.
On a more positive note the vile mostly beige uniforms have been consigned to the bin :). They were truly vile and sooooo unflattering on the crew :$ .

It's been announced that all the Virgin Blue Airlines (e.g. Virgin Blue, V Australia and Pacific Blue) will be brought under the Virgin Australia brand by the end of the year, after coming to an agreement with SQ over the issue of using the Virgin name in the Pacific/Asian area.

Sorry no link to source but it was on works intranet.
