The seats are released as soon as the flight goes on sale - so 11 months before departure. Once the 60% of seats that are available for pre-allocation have gone, then it will be OLCI before you can see the seat map again - they don't keep releasing block of them.

Thanks,
Neil

Thanks for that have manged to reserve my seats but large sections of the cabin are unavailable to reserve I'm assuming they will become available when OLCI opens assuming they haven't already been reserved.

Potentially yes. If the flight is full however and a large number of pax haven't been able to pre-reserve any seating then the system will automatically allocate seats for them, trying to ensure they get as many people sat together as they can.

If that does happen, then at OLCI you will just keep your existing seats and you won't have the option to change them.

Thanks for that I'm currently sat just behind the wing but would much prefer to be sat forward. I can only hope.

If you're on your ownsome, it might work out for you, tho' you're flying in high season etc etc. I'd make sure to run in the system the minute check in opens.

Hi 48 hours before departure we edit the flight at Manchester. We sit all our special requests including wheelchair passenger and passenger who require bulkhead seating. We then seat our upper class and premium economy passenger and the move onto economy. As mentioned the majority of the passengers will have seats. We then go through the seat map tidying it up ensuring we try our best to get all families together. Once we have done this we sit the majority of passengers giving them seats together. Once we have completed the editing we are left with so many passengers who do not have seats. This is becasue we sell exit seats and extra legroom seats at the airport on the day, and therefore when someone buys these on the day we then sit those passengers who do not have seats. As you can image sitting and MCO flight is quite a challenge due to the high number of children and special requests i hope this clear's things up for you.

If you have any more questions just ask :)

Similar question, really. Forgive me as I'm a newbie. Ive finally got enough points for a round trip to new York to see the girlfriend, flying from London, and being a teacher I need to go July 23rdish. There's. Currently no miles-only seats available. Will others be released? If so, when? I'm a bit clueless about the whole process really, but given the steep summer prices, I'd really like to use my miles!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It really is hard to say especially as at that stage you are coming into high season. The best advice I can give is to keep on doing dummy booking using the Use Miles option and be as flexible as you can about dates and times and also to factor in Newark as well as JFK as your options. At least with New York there are a lot of options of flights.

Thanks- I should have explained further! Due to high season, July 23rd to July 30th are all not available currently. I need to fly in that window, but time of day and which airport is immaterial. Would I be better off calling them? Or just keep dummy booking like I am every few days?

I'd be doing dummy bookings more frequently than every few days as the would probably be snapped up as soon as they appear
