I thought I was the lucky holder of 4 Red select vouchers until I recently tried to use them to fly to Florida next year.

Cruise booked, deposit paid to secure the best price just the flight to go, easy I thought. Stayed in regular contact with Customer Services so we didn't miss the date when the flights were released and on the first day we rang ready to book - to be told there was no chance, ring again....and again and again.

We've just been told no red voucher tickets have been released.

Does anybody have any experience of this? I appreciate Easter is a busy time but honestly thought we'd be able to book when we wanted, given the voucher is there to compensate us for somthing Virgin got wrong in the first place!

Unfortunately for you the red select vouchers book in to one of the low fare buckets (O or N) and it is quite rare for these fare buckets to be released for MCO over the very busy Easter period.

As an option have you look at flying in to MIA, there might be some seats there.

There is still a chance they might release some cheaper fare codes, but we have just been discussing in another thread how Easter falls this year and as most schools are having the same two weeks off it makes flights on those dates at a premium.

This year as school Easter holidays were over a four week period it was much easier and cheaper fare codes were released, but if demand is there then it is unlikely to happen.

JetBlue gets my vote too. The chances of being able to use four vouchers on a flight to Florida at ANY time is mighty slim - to hope for availability in what is obviously a small window around Easter; as you have booked your cruise, is like getting your six numbers come up - twice in two weeks. :D

The other advantage of JetBlue is that the go into FLL, which makes cruise connections a LOT easier. We did JetBlue from BOS when we were cruising, and it was simple.

We had three red select vouchers after being bumped off a flight from Orlando last year. Like you, I expected to be able to ring up and get the flight of my choice. And like you, I found that was't the case.

In the end I looked every day to see what dates tickets where available to purchase with miles only, and then had to ring up Virgin with a very flexible diary to get the flights sorted.

We fly to Miami this Friday, pick up our cruise on Saturday, and then fly back from Orlando 17 days later. The rep we spoke to at Virgin had to get special permission for us to fly in and out of different airports.

You need to keep looking everyday!!

Good luck.

Perhaps if we're "lucky" enough next time to be offered some vouchers we'll take a cash alternative!

Good luck with it. We used four Red Select vouchers a few years to get returns to BGI in August. I must admit, though, it worked because we were able to be flexible about destination - we knew we just wanted "somewhere in the caribbean" as we'd never been before - and flexible about dates, but it worked.
