With the complete lack of UC reward seats for our one way MIA-LHR we ended up booking PE. I have checked every day almost since January, and today some UC seats appeared.

Is it possible to upgrade our PE seats to the UC? If not, with some being available now, would they allow paid upgrade on a reward flight?

You can upgrade your PE to UC but only using more miles - paying to upgrade a reward redemption is not possible.

Note that you'll also have a wodge of extra tax to pay.

We have just managed to upgrade. Well worth checking every day in case reward seats become available!!

It is NOT the 'tax' i.e. the APD that is the problem but the fuel surcharge!

APD is the SAME for PE and UC.

It is the VS fuel surcharge that costs more in UC than PE.

But great for Maz that they got the upgrade.
