HI,
I am all new to this so a few questions for you experts. We are two adulds and four year old daughter looking to fly MAN to MCO on Sept 23rd- 7th October. We have 50,000miles and i have been pricing to do M+M in PE and EC fares, the EC M+M is coming up at £498 and PE at £882. If we are to book the economy can we upgrade with our points or pay cash at a later stage? Would this be more cost effective than booking the PE M+M? Also looking at the flights it is VS073 going out and VSO74 coming home, Is that the 747or the new A330? Thanks

Firstly, the VS 73/74 is operated by a 747.

If you book an economy fare,to be able to upgrade using miles, you need to be booked in a fare code of either Y/B or L. These are not the cheapest fare codes you will get on the website, and start from about £200 more than the cheapest economy fare. There will also need to be PE miles seats available, these are limited and popular on the MCO route.

If you book a MPM ticket, you can only upgrade to a MPM PE ticket, so again, there needs to be these available and it will be a mixture of both miles and money, you cannot just upgrade with one or the other on this fare type.

Do remember also, that on MPM fares, you won't earn miles or TPs.

Maybe with cash - airport offers can be good sometimes. Miles - you have to booked in the right fare code (Y,B or L in economy) which are more expensive than standard economy tickets..... However having just looked there are no miles seats for your return date.

No, on the day upgrades will bebe available for miles only, cash only, or a mix of the two - it will comedown to the fare bucket of the ticket you have.

That said - upgrades may not be available at all - it depends on how full the flight is and even on a quiet flight they may not be offered.

Yes it can be!

It used to be some simple !

Not only do you have to contend which deciding which cabin you want to fly in but there there are the different fare buckets (you need to be in the right one to upgrade or make changes) but add in promotions like M+M and miles redemtions you need to work out some pretty complex calculations !

Anyway welcome to the site !
