Hi, I recently travelled from LGW to MCO in PE. We were booked on VS15 departing at 1pm, but had a call from Virgin stating there was a question mark over the flight and the chances were is that it wouldn't fly, so could we make it to the airport early to travel on the VS27. To cut a longish story short, we did and made it just in time after some serious rushing..

But by doing so, we didn't enjoy our pre airport experience and felt rushed/stessed by the time we sat down on the plane. Plus we weren't in the bubble, something I prefer to the A330. Do you think it is worth complaining to VS, as I have checked and the flight took off just over half an hour late and I am presuming if there was a serious problem with the aircraft, it would cause a delay slightly longer than half an hour. It certainly appears it was overbooked.

The problem I have is the fact we weren't told the truth, at least I don't think we were. I know companies rarely admit to the real problem and will always cover over. Also, the fact remains our experience was blighted by this and before I put together an e-mail, would appreciate your thoughts. Not looking for something from nothing or anything like that, but I would like to complain, but not keen on spending the time putting together an e-mail if nothing will be done

Complain. Raise their awareness. Give them constructive feedback. Whatever you want to call it, you need to tell them that although you understand that sometimes things do go wrong that this experience fell way short of your expectations of Virgin.

It's a tough one. Virgin didn't make you change your flight, they gave you a choice that you decided to go with. Things change all the time, maybe they thought problem when the phoned you was worse than it was.

It could have gone the other way, you could have stayed on the original flight, which might have been delayed/cancelled and you would have lost out even more.

I guess you could write a letter, but I don't know really what you expect it to achieve. Virgin aren't going to admit they lied to you (if that is the case) and you paid for PE seat to MCO, which is what they provided you with.

Put it down to part of the travel experience.
Sometimes you have to rush and sometimes you are left hanging around for hours - that's how it goes.
It is not very fair to complain that you agreed to take an earlier fight and then had to rush and missed out on the lounge. If the later flight was delayed or cancelled ten you woudl probably be more upset.

A few weeks ago, someone posted pretty much exactly the same scenario - but on the reverse leg.

If you were unhappy with the experience, then of course put a written complaint in.

I think this is the same scenario, OP is the same and the post you've linked to refers to the VS15 to I believe it's the same :)

I am sure Virgin would welcome your feedback, so I would share your experience with them. It may not result in anything but I am all for customers sharing their experiences to prevent the same thing happening again.

Yes you did get to MCO but why would you not share anything with them when you feel a little disappointed. Nothing to lose at all.
