I try to book the day off so I have time to pack, tidy the house, get everything sorted - it is still pretty manic!

If I don't get the day off before, it's a frantic rush the night before.

Yea luckily I get the day off to! There's always too much to do and trying to remember if you have forgotten something is a nightmare! And Id probably lose my mind having a frantic rush in the evening!

Am so used to travelling I keep a wheelie part packed - duplicate power cords, travel toiletries, some clothes, and other travel stuff - so the day before is entirely normal and I pull together what I need in the morning while waiting for the car to arrive.

I realize this isn't what most people do, because it's a big event, but for me it's an every other week event. Makes it much calmer too.

Quick pack after morning shower then to London office and work right till we leave for checkin and CH for an hour or so. Then at CH shower, change into smart casual, and have a propper drink.

Work usually and then pack when I get it. We have it all down to a fine art now, so it doesn't take long. It really is just a normal day to be honest.

As we only fly for holiday reasons, we usually have the day off to get ourselves together, pack, tidy the house and spend time with the fur kids.

Of course 24 hours before the flight I'm always at the computer waiting for OLCI to open :D

We usually travel down to either LHR or LGW late afternoon as I am paranoid about travelling down the same day and being stuck in traffic :(

Yesterday was all work, left home for Gatwick at 8.30pm in to the very cheap but not so cheerful Travelodge at 11.00pm.

Today the holiday begins!!!

Oh my goodness, the day before is looming close :0

Everyone in our house either goes out or keeps out of my way and their heads down.

House has to be cleaned top to bottom, beds stripped, bins emptied and washed out, grass cut (that's outside), garden tidied, all washing and ironing done and put away, cars cleaned and vacuumed, dishwasher emptied. :) and woe betide ANYONE who goes inside the exclusion zone of the packed cases v(

Last thing is don't anyone even think about speaking to me and break my concentration. ;)

Actually I might print this out and use it as my check list :P

As much as I try and get all my work done the week before I go, I seem to be extremely busy the day before I go - everyone wants to get deals done! (which isn't a bad thing!!)

Pack, travel down to Surrey and stay with Family the night before, who kindly run us to the airport. Once I leave the house though, its relax time..

OMG :0 - I'm exhausted just reading this, sounds a bit like my wife. My advice to anyone else who lives with someone like this - steer clear. :)

On the other hand, a bit like Slinky, I travel a lot on business so my day before is completely normal. I too keep a part packed carry on with duplicate laptop power supply, Bose QCs, iPod, travel computer bag and travel wash kit. Then usually the evening before I pack a few clothes. Having a regular routine, makes it much calmer.

Depends if I needed to work or not.

If off work then quite relaxed doing chores etc.

If I had to work then the evening is spent doing final checks - tickets, money, passport and contents of case etc.

There is a general household tidy and empty bins and recycling after clearing fridge.

Finally I programme the PVR for any programmes I might miss when away !

Not very exciting I know!

I guess i am lucky as my travel these days involves flitting between home in florida and my mums in the Uk (where i doss for the week)for work. so i have 2 sets of everything and can fly just with hand luggage which consists of -laptop, bit of paperwork and passport. It takes about 5 minutes to pack and is usually done last minute. the day before i am not even thinking about travel (apart from OLCI and seq 1 !!!!).
the day i leave here i try and stay in the pool until the very last minute :-).
have to say it makes flying just a little more pleasant.

I normally get about a week off work before going on holiday, so I have plenty of time to relax, pack and buy new traveling clothes. The day before normally is just checking everything is in place and getting an early night.

A lot depends on what time I leave here to get to LHR as I frequently take a late night flight if my connecting VS flight is before noon. The early morning EI flight from ORK has very little margin for error if anything goes wrong this end. That said, what I do on those days is essentially the same as I would be doing on the day before if I were using a same-day connect. Basically it is finishing the packing so that all that has to go in is last minute items such as toiletries, cleaning and tidying the house and leaving it all shipshape and making sure there is enough food for the cats who will be fed by a neighbour

My travel is mostly on business, mostly to America. The day before I am usually at work, and sometimes have to work late to prepare for the trips.

So I have got into the habit of just being able to throw stuff into a case at 6 am before the journey to LHR. I've come to the conclusion that it's just not worth stressing about it; most "essential" things can be bought at the airport (or whilst away) if you forget them.

On the morning itself I usually realise I haven't printed my e-ticket or booked hotels for part of my stay (my itineraries tend to come together at the last moment). The last-minute dash to get this done is all part of the fun!

Living in Newcastle usually means travelling the night before to London and I normally try to take that day off but this year due to the length of my holiday it wasn't possible so I finish work at 1pm and a mad dash home get changed grab the cases and back to the station with the family to catch the 3pm to London....so will be a tad manic

We have never printed ours; being ETickets never dawned that the check in agent may not have access electronically (and as we OLIC and print boarding passess at home or away where we can) we have never needed them ?|

I keep a bag packed with everything I need for a few days, plus another bag half packed for longer trips. I also keep my camera bags packed with everything charged, (I'm a photographer) and with all my travel docs inside.

Sometimes I literally need to grab my bag, run to the airport, and buy a ticket at the airport, so there isn't always time to pack.

For holidays, I usually pack the day/night before, with a few last minute things going in the morning of.

The day before I am normally working (I only have two weeks vacation a year). So if I have a morning flight VS18 08.00, I start to pack when I get home from work the night before. I proceed to pack and unpack several times as this gives me immense enjoyment! In fact I live for it, I can pack and repack several times in the two hours between starting my packing and ending it and leaving for the Marriott at Newark. Once in my hotel room, I shall unpack and pack again as I am convinced I have not got my passport, even though it is in my left hand. I spend several hours trying to figure out what credit card I used for my ticket, so as not to upset the automatic ticket machine that I shall talk to in the morning - oh yes, I talk to boarding pass machines.

In the morning I shall wash and dress, and then pack everything again, and then proceed to open every drawer in the room, completely remove ALL the bed linen just incase something I unpacked got lodged in them. I know I have not used the drawers, but I shall only worry on the plane if I don't do this as I shall convince myself all of my foreign money has been left at the Marriott.

Once I have gone down to reception, I shall go back up to my room to check I have not left anything, this may happen a couple of times, depends on time. Once on the short bus ride from the hotel to terminal B, I shall look for my tickets, money and passport several times, just incase they managed to fall from the zipped pocket on to the roadways of New Jersey.

Once in the lounge at Newark, I will have breakfast, then go into the men's washroom to change my nice white shirt as it now has tomato ketchup on it. I always do this, and even when I do not have tomato ketchup with my sausages, somehow, I still get covered. I pack a shirt just for this occasion. So far I have never failed to have to change my shirt!

Once at the security, I prepare myself for the possible invasion of my body orifices, and try very hard to stop myself from saying "shall I just bend over now, or do you want to have breakfast first!" Security guards are not known for their humor, although I do find if I act quite eager for them to search all my private holdings, they normally just let me pass!

Once through the security, I shall re-deploy my shoes, belt, phone and wallet, and then do a complete search for tickets, money, passport and now boarding card.

Upon getting on the plane, I turn left, find my seat and contemplate a very large Vodka and Tonic as soon as we are able. Well you did ask! And no, I do not suffer from OCD, it is only when I fly!

For me, the last day before I go away is traveling to Gatwick. Living In Guernsey, and fog quite often being a problem, I prefer to get to the UK a day before I'm due to leave for where ever it is I'm heading off to. Once in the UK, its just about relaxing and enjoying the pre-holiday holiday :-)
