I know this might sound a bit like trying to pull a fast one or wanting your cake and eat it, but here goes.

Can I buy a full fare in EC then use my two Upgrades to PE and then miles from there to UCS.

Please don't shout at me for asking :| , i think every year I lose the use of my PE upgrades cause well erm I don't like it
as much as UCS.

No!

The PE upgrades must be used in conjunction with an economy miles redemtion.

I've never heard of or experienced any "give and take" by VS on this - those are the Ts & Cs.

Furthermore, once you've used miles for the economy reward ticket, then applied the Amex PE upgrade, you cannot upgrade with miles or cash to UC - those are the Ts & Cs.

Ahh thanks, I thought you had to buy a EC ticket and then use the upgrade, didn't realise it was a miles purchase on the EC then use the upgrade.

Thank you.

That would be a risk too far :-S
Seems such a waste, but obviously not meant for me.

Indeed it does, we managed to upgrade from 2 'U' class tickets to 2 G's coming back from JFK in April. The U fares will show as just that to the agent behind the desk so you might be able to upgrade for 12,500 miles each plus tax one way if available.
