Cabin creep

No, I'm not talking about people trying to ponce around in underwear in UC pretending to sleep:D

I'm talking about a fhenomenon that goes something like this...

"Ah, let's book my flights...go steady now, why not fly economy/WT on the outbound, afterall it's a day flight and it'll be ok. You can come back Premium/WTP if it really matters that much..."...

Flights booked...

A small number of weeks later...

"Let's see if there are any good upgrade prices/miles offers on the table..."

On website of airline "Oh look, that isn't a bad price, I'll grab that..."...

And again, "Let's check the outbound........"...

On date of flight..."That didn't work, and wasn't I sensible...but let's try at the airport......Any upgrades available?"

Why, for the love of your deity of choice, do I end up actually flying in a cabin (or two) above my original booking every, damn time:D

I blame V-Flyer for having taught me the value of UC/...it's really true, once you've done it, you can't go back...

I used to think PE was good, until I did my reward flights in UC, now I'm upgrading by any means possible...

And, originally was wt/WTP - now I'm WTP/CW - when will it end????:V

Nice title Concorde - I thought it was about some horrible slimy bloke in the EC/PE/UC cabin you were sat next to on a flight.

Back OT, yes its interesting how it grasps us all. I blame V-Flyer too. I'm sure I was more content before I became wise to the "turn left" world we inhabit here.

I'm off to the States in a couple of weeks time and when I booked, my wife thought I was going to use miles or a (useless) companion ticket.

Having participated in the V-Flyer community and had my reality warped for a while, I went and blew £3300 on a couple of UC tickets in the sale a few months back. (No cabin creeping for me!) My wife went bonkers :0 despite me claiming what a fantastic deal it was

Maybe cabin creep is the way to do it. That way you buy your flights in manageable payments. If you can't get up to PE or UC then you can convince yourself that you have saved a load of money. And you never get that really big item on your credit card bill in one hit.

I thought it was going to be about interlopers from 'lower' cabins into higher ones and using the wring loos or trying to visit the UC bar !

I dealt with this by just booking straight into UC/Business Class then I know which cabin I will be flying in. I'm not sure I could stand the strain of not knowing and waiting for the upgrade gods to be nice to be at check-in !

I'm with you on this one, it has now become part of the whole trip/booking experience. Here in the "Apple" household I may be mocked for continually checking the website for upgrades but funnily enough they are all beaming with delight when they are happily ensconced in upper class..

We're the same too.

Just changed some Thai flights to Krabi, via Bangkok. We're flying Etihad Pearl to BKK so could in theory fly economy for the short hop to Krabi. Could we heck! Business all the way

good call, its a great way to upgrade when the other half says no.Mrs always says 'too much not worth it' whatever the price, so one trip when we are due to fly EC I suggest she might just prefer an upgrade as I have loads of miles .'Oh ok' she relents . 5 mins later I come back and declare 'off to the CH we go'...'what I thought you were going to upgrade to PE'.

'Nope no seats in E so i got UC (I had already checked ahead)'

'well i didnt mean go to UC , ah well its done now'

she did admait half way through ...'it is a much nicer way to travel'

I must admit to being "educated" into turning left by V Flyers.
Previously, I (We) have always flown economy,then, as I became single again I went P.E, now, all becasue of this brilliant web site and all it's wonderful family, I am turning left on the plane. 8D

This is what I thought I would have to do.Wwhen I buy my original flights, if I use miles and money to buy them, can you then upgrade with points? of is that the wrong letter flight?

If you've got an MPM fare, you can upgrade further using MPM provided availability etc.

You won't be able to do miles only upgrades on a miles plus money booking as far as I know
