VS015 Late departure from LGW

I have noticed that several times in the last 2 weeks VS015 has been quite late departing Gatwick, is there a reason or is it just a coincidence?

Not sure what you mean by 'quite' late

According to the 'schedules' tool in the toolbox since the 1st August she has departed within 15 mins of its schedculed departure 9 times (one of those was even early!) out of 12

It has taken off very late twice.

This could be for a number of reasons - not all within VS control such as

Late inbound arrival due to late departure for numerous reasons including weather
ATC issues
Airport congestion
Mechanical problem
Need to offload pax who did not arrive at the gate and their luggage needed to be found.

The VS15 has departed late over the last 2 days due to the incident in Tobago, because of no aircraft to opperate the VS15 on Friday, one 747 from LHR had to be flown down to LGW to opperate the VS15, this depated around 4 hours late on Friday and had a knock on effect this morning as the VS16 inbound from MCO arrive around 3 hours late, hope this helps

We're on the VS16 tonight and the current time for departure is around 9.00pm local time. We are indeed on a Heathrow 747 and it would seem that VS were doing deals on upgrades due to the obvious differences in seat configuration. Lots of kids currently running around the Delta lounge in MCO with UK accents.

If they do the same on the plane I will not be happy as we paid full price for the privilege.

Our son Alfie was on the VS0015 on Wednesday, it was delayed until 15.15, a sensor was to blame apparentely.

Over time the VS15 does not have great on time performance, with only 50% of flights leaving "on time". The average delay is only 38 mins though, which for me on such a long flight is neither here nor there. Lots more flight info on Flightstats

PS - the departure of the 15 on the 13th of August was put back by two hours the previous day at 20.21 according to the info listed under "flight events"
