Hi

I joined the Flying Club a short while ago and through the Black Amex card managed to collate 43000 points so far. I phoned today to look at using my Companion flight when the wondeful lady offered me what sounds to me like a great deal.

I'm flying LHR to LAX on 2/5/2012 back from LAS to LWG on 15/5/2012. She offered my a fare of £1100 plus 30,000 points to travel Upper out and Premium back. I jumped at the chance and booked. Tell me, is this as good as it sounds to me?

I now need some advice as to where to sit... its an Airbus and I see theres window, middle or window... where on earth is the best place for two of us to sit on the outbound. I've flown PE on the LAS to LGW route before but could really do with some good advice here and for how to get the most from my upper experience!

Thanks in advance, Nick!

One of the best ways to start is to look in the Toolbox and then Trip Report Index, choose your flight number and read people's experiences.

Others will, I am sure, chime in with additional views.

I wouldn't baulk at that price :) .Outbound to LAX has to be either 3,4,5K for me and I often travel as a couple (3 K is where where I'll be again in 58 days on my way back to LAX and then on to Vegas :D :D ). Be warned-this is the slippery slope ... ): ):

Slippery slope - I'm already on it but probably on the Upper Class slope now... I feel such a snob that I dont want to travel Econ any more but PE was nice, very excited about Upper!

I take it I search couple as there is two of us?

Hi Npe81

Sounds like you've been offered a Miles plus Money fare, but the 30k miles is a bit confusing. MPM fares are £xxx plus 15k return for upper and 7.5k (AFAIR) for PE. So for two of you, return I would have expected 22.5k miles for UC out and PE return. MPM fares can throw up some bargains, and they are semi flexible, but you don't earn miles on them.

The other possibility is an S fare out (premium economy) upgraded with miles to UC, with K fare (lowest PE and not upgradable) on the way back. But that would need 40K miles.

Can't replicate either of these on the website as is will only price return MPM fares in the same class and won't do a mixture of LAX/LAS K and S fares either.

And yes, I guess people have interpreted two people as a couple. Usually when I travel its me and the Daught, but most of the recommendations still hold true, even if your travelling companion is other than a "partner".

In UC you will be separated either by the aisle or the wall of the suite so unlike in PE you won't be able to easily lean over and have a natter like you can when you are sitting side by side in PE

However you do have the ottoman for one of you to sit on or at the bar too of course !

If you want to look at each other then you need to be in rows 2-7 on the A/D side or 8-16 on the G-K side (assuming you are on the 346 on the VS . (so select say 3A and D or 10 G and K)

If you dont want to look at each other (or have anyone else look at you then try to get into rows 2-7 K or 8-16 on the A side as there you will be facing the wall.

Have a look at the seat map A346 seat map
