No, many years ago, we flew a brand new A343 from Manchester to Orlando with VS

It only had Premium and Economy fitted - no upper ;)

Could it possibly be a positioning move by VS? Park an aircraft at MCO ready for assist with getting flights up and running once Irene has left JFK/EWR?

that would be my guess in order to get schedules back to normal as soon as possible it would make sense to fly an aircraft out to one of the US destinations to re-position as soon as the storm has passed.

Don't special and positioning flights have a '9XX' number like the flights to MNL or those taking the England football team to their foreign games?

Might just be to have an aircraft over in the US to help with the backlog after Irene has passed as no additional flights planned out of MCO tonight so she is night-stopping.

My guess is that people from NYC have been evacuated to MCO prior to Irene arriving and VS49 is flying in to collect them. Some friends of mine flew VS76 on 26th Aug and apparently there was over 100 people trying to get home that weren't booked on any of the MCO flights. VS appear to be bringing people to MCO to fill up the various flights to the UK. I'm on VS76 on Monday, hope all is settled by then.

The VS website is showing a flight VS50 scheduled for 17.00 today due to arrive LGW 06.30 Monday. Presumably operated by African Queen?

Indeed Taurus you are right - the VS50 from MCO to LGW today is on the monthly schedules but not bookable (obviously full) and not showing on expertflyer - so it might have been planned to operate all along with it being on the monthly schedules.

However, my guess would be its an extra flight due to Irene as surely if it was always due to operate VS50 from MCO, I am sure it could have been filled outbound too........
