I was just reading some threads about using miles to upgrade & wondered whether it is possible to upgrade our PE seats from Man to MCO. We are returning in UC but just wondered how many miles & how much extra to upgrade from our K class seats.

You would need to upgrade to a S or W fare first, costs vary, but a good £250pp minimum usually.

The problem you will have is funding the G reward seats ex MAN, they are almost impossible to get, made even more difficult since the A330 started operating the daily MAN flight. This has mean only 56 UC seats per week ex MAN to MCO now and it seems they are filling them with ease at the moment. Always worth keeping an eye out for though.

Hi when are you travelling? I have just done this on the Manchester route. It cost me 40,000 miles for 2 people one way upgrading from a K ticket and because the price of the flights had dropped I didn't have to pay any extra for the upgrade. My flights are January 2012. This is my first post on here so I hope this makes sense

Thanks for that ClaireR. I'll give them a ring today & see what they say - I can only try. I may as well use the miles if I can; if there are UC seats available.

Update - I rang earlier but there was only one upgradeable seat left so I was advised to try again nearer the time of the flight & at the airport as a last try :)

Take the one seat now before someone else does :) . I for one have been known to sit alone :D .If the other seat is released you can pick it off at a later date.

How do you get away with that?! I'd be having the guilt trip for the rest of my life if I did that ;)

I tried asking again this morning but was told in no uncertain terms that I cannot upgrade from a K class PE to Upper just using miles. I would have to upgrade my ticket first. I know this is the rule but thought I might be in with a chance when I read that ClaireR had managed the upgrade just using miles. Oh well, such is life;it was worth a couple of calls :) I will be happy enough in PE in my favourite 80H&K seats - providing they are not whipped out from under me :)

Hi Katie, the reason why it only cost me miles was that the cost of upgrading from K to the upgradable fare was £16 less than what I had paid originally for the K fare. Then all I needed to do was add miles for the upper fare. I tried to ugrade using money which was only £50 each from what I had paid but I could'nt do it from a K fare. This does seem long winded and it took me a couple of hours to sort it out as I kept having to phone up at each step

I think it goes something like this ...

DL - I've managed to get one seat in UC dear and because you are such a lovely hubby you can have it and I'll sit in PE [like DL is ever going to be in Y!].

Mr DL - oh thank you dear but I can't have you 'suffering' in the back of the plane so I'll sit in PE and you can go in UC

DL - oh you are such a good hubby ...

Thanks for the info Claire - I'll have a look at the difference between my K fare & an upgradeable fare but somehow I think it will be a tad more than £16 :)

I did read out your suggestion to my DH & he laughed & said to go for it - maybe he's trying to tell me something :)
